Have you ever wondered exactly what our ICMP courses entail? Well, wonder no longer… because now you can get a real feel for what life as a student on our BMus (Hons) Popular Music Performance course, with our new online taster session.

What to expect from the event

Performance is at the heart of our BMus programme and in this session, we’ll take you through key facets of performance and technique, identifying the importance and essential nuances of stagecraft, ensemble connection, musicality and industry awareness.

You’ll have the opportunity to either watch a live performance via JamKazam by our tutor team, with added Q&A session, or perform yourself by submitting your song recording in advance and having our tutor team provide feedback on your work.

This taster session experience will let you focus on particular areas to immediately improve your performance skills, and introduce you to the shared learning partnership model that embodies our BMus programme.

Our next online taster session will take place via Zoom on Friday 27th November, 5pm–6pm

BOOK YOUR PLACE

After you book your place, we'll send you an exclusive Zoom link so you can join us to find out more about this course.

OPTIONAL: Before the event...

During the first year of the BMus course, you will cover six major styles in your live performance classes, these are Blues, Soul, Rock, Funk, Reggae and Disco.

To get live feedback during this session, please record yourself playing or singing to a song of your choice, from one of these styles. You could simply record a verse and a chorus or the whole song - it's up to you!

Please note that this is optional and you are still welcome to attend the Course Taster Session if have not recorded yourself.

Here are some examples from each style:

  • Blues – ‘Boom Boom’ John Lee Hooker
  • Soul – ‘Let’s stay together’  Al Green
  • Rock – ‘You Gave Love A Bad Name’ – Bon Jovi
  • Funk – ‘I Feel Good’ James Brown
  • Reggae – ‘Could You Be Loved’ Bob Marley
  • Disco – ‘Everybody Dance’ Chic

We will also be looking through live performances by some of the greats and answering any questions you have.

See you there!
