We're  thrilled to be welcoming Ady Suleiman to Kilburn for an exclusive ICMP masterclass.

Ady will be discussing his experiences in the music industry, discussing his struggles and successes, from the perspectives of being an independent, unsigned artist through to signing to a major label. He'll also focus on the realities of starting-out in today's industry, covering what you need to consider in the evolving music-industry and also discussing the multiple income-streams that artists need to consider nowadays.

Who is Ady Suleiman?

Ady Suleiman doesn’t disguise his emotions. His frank, unfiltered, soul-baring songs offer more than an insight into his life – they’re a front row seat to real situations relayed in real time, to conversations typically held behind closed doors, to self-confessions related out loud.

Growing up in a village near Nottingham, Ady was a classic distracted child who first found a focus-in football. In his late teens he turned his attention to music, encouraged by a teacher who spotted his talent for singing; and with a DJ dad who ran African club nights in Nottingham, he turned his son Ady on to everyone from Pink Floyd and The Beatles to Chet Baker and Bob Marley.

Gaining airplay through the BBC Introducing platform, Ady was soon invited to tour with Laura Mvula and Michael Kiwanuka. His early EPs found him fans in Gilles Peterson and Mistajam, while his innate ability to express his emotions so openly impressed Chance The Rapper, who flew him to the States to collaborate, alongside Joey Bada$$, who guested on one of his songs.
