Irish-born singer-songwriter Megan O’Neill grew up in a musical family and began writing songs at 14, largely driven by her passion for musical theatre. She received a singing scholarship to University College Dublin, moving to Nashville after graduation where she spent two years learning the art of songwriting, writing at least two songs each day.
Next, London beckoned. Signing with a Dublin management company, she officially kicked off her career at the end of 2013, gigging almost non-stop across the UK. She visited LA to take part in songwriting sessions, performing at a private Warner Music Group and Disney Oscars party alongside fellow Irish singer-songwriter Gavin James on the recommendation of filmmaker JJ Abrams. Her debut full-length album as a solo artist, ‘Ghost of You’, was recorded in Nashville and reached No. 1 on the UK/Irish Country Music Charts upon release in 2018.
Across her career, she has supported acts including the Lighthouse Family and Jamie Cullum, and performed in front of a crowd of 15,000 each night during a stadium tour with Tom Jones in 2019. Olivia Newton-John is a committed fan after seeing her play live.
Megan has had her compositions featured on ads, movies and TV shows – namely her song ‘Don’t You’ featuring on Season three of ABC’s hit show Nashville. In 2019, she contributed lead female vocals to Universal Music’s ‘Now That’s What I Call Country Music: The Roadshow’. To date she’s performed across the UK, Ireland, the US and Germany and has upcoming plans for an Australia and New Zealand tour.
Megan’s eagerly awaited next album, ‘Getting Comfortable with Uncertainty’, is due for release in 2020 and has already garnered sync attention, with one track selected to appear in a major Netflix series.
