Martin Goulding is a busy session musician and has become one of the foremost modern rock educators in the UK. Having graduated from the Guitar Institute of Technology in 1993, Martin joined ICMP faculty specialising in modern rock techniques.
Martin is a regular columnist for Guitar Techniques, Total Guitar, and Guitar World, and released his first professional tuition DVD through Future Publishing in 2011.
As course leader for the International Guitar Foundation’s residential summer schools, he also participates in the judging of the annual Guitar Idol competition which has given exposure to some of the best up and coming players from around the world. As a respected session guitarist, his clients have included Chappell Recorded Music Library, Bruton Music, Zomba, Unity, Vivienne Westwood, and the BBC.
Martin also works as a producer, writer, and engineer. His own progressive metal band, Linear Sphere, have released two albums, Reality Dysfunction and Manvantara. The latter was described by Metal Storm magazine as “dark, modern, intense prog” and praised by Prog Metal Zone for its “technical wizardry”. More recently, he was a guest soloist on The Safety Fire’s album, Grind the Ocean.
