The Institute of Contemporary Music Performance is committed to delivering and maintaining the highest academic standards across all of its programmes.
Quality Assurance & Enhancement
In addition to our own internal procedures and those of our awarding bodies, ICMP is subject to external reviews and regular monitoring by the Office for Students’ designated quality body, the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) as well as the awarding bodies that we work with.
ICMP was reviewed under ‘Higher Education Review’ by the QAA in February 2015 and successfully met UK expectations in all areas of assessment, with five areas of good practice identified and two recommendations. This review process is the same as that undertaken by all UK universities. We have then undergone annual review each year thereafter; following our most recent monitoring visit in March 2018, QAA has assessed our performance as “commendable”, specifically recognising our commitment to continuous improvement across many areas, in particular in the monitoring, evaluating and enhancement of our provision. The outcomes of the QAA Review and Monitoring Visits are available to view here.
The Action Plan following the Higher Education Review is available to view here.
Full details on ICMP’s approach to quality assurance and enhancement can be found in our Quality Manual.
Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF)
In June 2018, ICMP was awarded a Teaching Excellent Framework Bronze award. The TEF is a recently introduced process for all UK higher education providers, and ICMP as an independent provider was pleased to begin its engagement with this important sector initiative.
ICMP works closely with our awarding institutions and organisations to assure the standards and quality of our courses. Our undergraduate degrees are validated by the University of East London (UEL) and the University of South Wales (USW); our post-graduate degrees are validated by UEL; and our one-year Higher National Diploma course is accredited by Pearson.
ICMP understands that to ensures that the student interest, and those of other stakeholders, must be properly safeguarded and every key decision robustly tested and evaluated for appropriateness. To this end we have developed and implemented a series systems, structures and processes which we refer to as our Governance Framework. Full details of this approach to governance can be found here.
